Little Girl’s Room, 2 ways

I have 3 kids. I had 2year old boys (twins) when we found out the third baby was going to be a girl. I of course, immediately started to think about how I would decorate her room. The thing is, we also decided to move (back to our hometown) that spring so I didn’t have an actual room to decorate until 1 month before her due date… when I was 8 months pregnant, unpacking a whole house, in August (so hot!), and did I mention the 2 year old twins? So.. ya, that didn't happen.

She is now 2 years old and she lives in a blank room, not a picture on the wall, a collection of diaper boxes (which double as a side table) and functional (only) blackout curtains on her window. The tricky part about trying to decorate your own 2 year old’s room? My only free time seems to be when she is napping in said room.

About once a week, usually when I'm putting her to bed at night, I look around the room and sigh to myself. I am starting to feel like it’s now or never… so my goal is to make this happen this year. Here are 2 designs for her room. She is currently sleeping in a crib, however I dream one day of this Jenny Lind bed for my little girl (until she needs a “big girl bed” I will be on a look out for a fantastic sale or maybe a more budget-friendly dupe), but as for the rest of the items.. these are all planned for or already purchased. I'll include links to all items, some may have expired by now (remember I've been working at this for over 2 years) but I'll link to the source in that case.

Below are 2 sample boards I’ve prepared for the same room. Both are shown with the colour palette in the top left corner of the collage. The large circle identifies the colour planned for the lower section of wall, and the smallest circle represents the colour of accent within the room. The middle circle, which is simply white (Benjamin Moore) will be the colour for the top of the walls and trim. I started my planning working with a pink backdrop (my girl loves pink) but I, personally, am a blue fan… and I want this room to be able to grow with her, so I decided to redo the original plan with a blue tone as the dominant colour and the pink (coral) colour as the accent. The room is largely the same in both pictures, both with a complementary colour scheme, the first being pink and green scheme (Benjamin Moore Powder Blush and Saybrook Sage) and one with a greeny-blue and coral scheme (Benjamin Moore, Quiet Moments and Desert Rose). Which one do you like better? Let me know in the comments!
