Spring Refresh: Incorporating Trends

It is the first day of spring! Although there is still snow on the ground here, the sun is shining and I can hear the birds chirping. After a dreary winter I am looking forward to the spring season, if only so I can put away the many pairs of snow pants and clunky boots that fill up my hallways.

Spring always makes me think of new beginnings and fresh starts. This is a great time to re-evaluate the rooms in our homes and see where we could incorporate some of the latest design trends. Incorporating trends into your design can keep even the most classically designed rooms from feeling tired and dated. Here are a few tips to consider if you are integrating trends into your existing, or planned designs:

  • Incorporate trends in a way that is consistent with your design style;

  • Be choosey. Use only the trends that you personally like;

  • If you are unsure about the staying-power of a trend, introduce the trend through styling items or small furniture pieces instead of built-in shelves, cabinetry or expensive investment pieces.

Below I have collected a few of the latest design trends. Keep a look out for these trends and consider bringing some of these into your homes to refresh your designs this spring!

This year I am leaning into the mixing of wood tones, scalloped edges and pleated materials for my own home. I am wary about the fringe trend, but I think it will grow on me. Any of these trends or another trend that you are looking to incorporate into your home this year? I would love to hear about it, let me know in the comments.
